Relationship Between Motor Skills and Language Abilities in Children With Autism Spectrum Disorder

Abstract Objectives Few studies have examined the relationship between language abilities and specific motor skills in toddlers with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The aim of this study was to compare receptive (RL) expressive (EL) functioning ASD aged 24 36 months their peers typical development (TD). Furthermore, compared multidimensional delayed RL EL development. predictive powers were for group Methods 38 age-matched TD evaluated using Receptive Expressive Language Subscales Mullen Scale Early Learning, assessed Peabody Developmental Motor Scales, Second Edition. Results Significant correlations ability observed groups. had lower scores than group. Moreover, risks could be predicted by ASD. Conclusions positive correlation indicated potential connections early onsets speech-language impairments these toddlers.
